Troubleshooting
The real location is showing
Something stopped StealthPin. Check these in order:
- Is StealthPin still running? If you swiped it away, or iOS closed it, open it again. It offers Hold That Spot Again.
- Did the iPhone restart? A restart always ends the fake location. Open StealthPin once so it can put the developer tools back. It needs the internet for that.
- Is the VPN on? Another VPN, such as Tailscale or a work VPN, switches StealthPin's off, because iOS runs one at a time. On a sideloaded copy, check LocalDevVPN is on.
- Look at the hold log. It shows when holding slipped and whether it recovered.
Friends still see me at the old place
That's usually just timing. Find My shares with friends about once an hour, or straight away after a move of more than 10 km. StealthPin's main screen shows which spot they see now. Give it up to an hour.
Find My shows me at home with a big circle
This is the one we haven't pinned down. In testing at home, Find My sometimes showed the phone at its real location with a wide accuracy circle while StealthPin was holding somewhere else. We think a Mac nearby was seeing the phone over Bluetooth and reporting that, rather than the phone sending it, but it isn't confirmed. Away from home it held. The System Log watch in StealthPin exists to catch this, and if you see it, a log from that moment helps.
A setup step won't tick
Developer Mode. Make sure you confirmed it after the restart: unlock the phone and look for the Turn On question. The Developer Mode guide has a section for when the switch doesn't appear.
Pairing on iOS 27. Keep StealthPin open on its pairing step while you look in Settings › Privacy & Security › Developer Mode. Type the code it shows, not one from a Mac.
Pairing on iOS 18 to 26. The pairing file comes from the Mac app's Send Pairing File…. The phone has to be unlocked, plugged in and trusting that Mac.
The VPN. On a beta build, allow the VPN when iOS asks. If you tapped Don't Allow, go back to StealthPin's setup and run the VPN step again. On a sideloaded copy, install LocalDevVPN from the App Store and turn it on.
A sideloaded copy won't open
Apps installed with a free Apple ID stop opening after seven days. Open SideStore and refresh StealthPin. It normally does this on its own, but only when SideStore gets a chance to run.
Still stuck
Email hello@stealthpin.com with your iPhone model, iOS version, how you installed StealthPin, and what you saw. A screenshot of the hold log helps a lot.
